Potatoes Au Gratin with 4 Cheeses and Garlic

Creamy, cheesy and delicious! These potatoes Au Gratin pack a garlic punch!

Joe's Four-Cheese Garlic Potatoes Au Gratin

I came up with this recipe a couple of years ago. I just wanted something that was effortless, I could put in the oven, and forget about it until done. I love the crispy texture that forms on top from all the cheeses. But don't be fool, underneath is creaming and tender!


Prep time: 20 minutes

Cooking time: 45 minutes

Serves 6 people

The great thing about this dish is that you can use powder ingredients found in everyone's pantry.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 to 6 of red potatoes (thinly sliced)

  • 2 to 4 of yellow potatoes

  • 3 cups of heavy cream

  • 1.5 teaspoons of garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon of paprika

  • 1 tablespoon of black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt

  • 1 tablespoon of dry (desiccated) parsley

  • 1/2 cup each of grated Asiago, Parmesano and Romano

  • 4 Slices Gouda Cheese

  • Pinch of red pepper flakes

  • Butter

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 475 F or 190 C.

  2. In a mixing bowl add cream, garlic powder, paprika, salt, pepper and parsley. Wish all together. Set Aside.

  3. Generously butter a baking dish

  4. Slice potatoes thinly.

  5. Add a layer of potatoes to the bottom of the dish.

  6. Add layer of Romano & Parmesano cheeses.

  7. Add 1 full ladle of the cream sauce.

  8. Repeat steps 5 through 7 two more times.

  9. Top with Gouda Cheese, Parmesano, Asiago and Romano Cheeses.

  10. Red pepper flakes

  11. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.

  12. Serve and enjoy!!
